“Survivor Cat: Heartwarming Story of Overcoming a Cruel Trap for Two Months”

Mary Strachan stumbled upon a disturbing sight when a cat, who had been visiting her for food, was found with a snare tightly wrapped around it for nearly two months. The severe injury almost cut the feline in half, as shown in shocking photos. The incident occurred in Ardersier, near Inverness, and has sparked outrage among animal lovers.

The cat's pinched waist is seen after a 30-minute procedure to remove the wire

After undergoing a 30-minute operation to have the wire removed, the cat’s slim waistline is now visible. Mary, a council worker, shared that the cat was initially very frightened and wouldn’t let anyone approach it. It took Mary about a week to successfully trap the cat. She only realized how dire the situation was after seeing pictures of the cat on social media, which brought her to tears. The black and white feline, who has been given the name Squire, is presently under the care of Inverness Cat Rescue.

The cat, dubbed 'Squire' by his rescuers, is seen before having the wire removed

The feline, known as ‘Squire’ to his rescuers, was captured on camera prior to having the wire extracted.

Squire is now recovering well after his 'horrific' two-month ordeal

Squire has now made a good recovery following his two-month ordeal, which was described as ‘horrific’. Photos reveal that the snare – a wire loop used for trapping animals – was tightly wound around the cat’s waist, causing a deep wound and leaving him with a permanently pinched waist. Heather Swinton Raven, owner of Inverness Cat Rescue, estimated that Squire is between two to three years old and had been through a traumatic experience. The vet who treated him believes that the snare had been around him for eight weeks and remarked that he was fortunate to have survived. The snare would have continued to tighten if Squire had not been rescued.

The wire was found tightly wound around the poor cat's midsection

The cat was discovered with a wire wrapped tightly around its middle. Heather mentioned that the wire had caused a deep wound in the cat’s tummy, but luckily it didn’t require any stitches. The cat was put under anaesthesia and the wire was taken out. Other than that, the cat was in great health.

Rescuers now hope Squire's owner will come forward to claim him
