During his daily commute, a gentleman stumbled upon six little creatures that seemed to be in distress. Unfamiliar with their species, he noticed they were alone in the forest and their pale skin tone raised concern. Without any sign of their mother nearby, he took it upon himself to bring them to a shelter for assistance.

Upon arrival at the animal shelter in Sylacauga, Alabama, the staff immediately went to work helping the six-pack of puppies. According to Nicole Zaguroli from non-profit rescue group Second City Canine Rescue (SCCR), who spoke to The Dodo, the staff had to wear masks while bathing the pups due to their overpowering odor and they were afflicted with scabies, malnourishment, and cold. Although the staff thought the puppies may be Cocker Spaniel mixes, it was later confirmed that they were indeed puppies. Jacquie Cobb, the president of SCCR, recognized the urgency of the situation after seeing the puppies on social media and knew she had to intervene.

After receiving prompt medical attention and care at Auburn Veterinary College, it was time to decide which breed to feature on their online adoption listings. The adorable pups were also distributed among several foster homes during this process.

Gradually, the previously damaged skin was replaced with white fur. After conducting a DNA test on the puppies, it was confirmed that they were purebred Great Pyrenees dogs! It’s a relief that the puppies have grown and thrived into healthy adult dogs. Their loving families are gearing up for each of these once-tiny pups to exceed 100 pounds in weight.
