Feline Falls head over paws for New Adopted Dog Brother

Meet Cinder and Bridger McPurr, a pair of furry siblings from Mojo’s Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing animals in Anchorage, Alaska. These two are an unlikely duo, with Cinder being a dog and Bridger a cat, but their love for each other is unbreakable. Despite their different needs and backgrounds, they share a common desire for warmth and affection, which has strengthened their bond over time.

Back in 2015, a generous hiker discovered Cinder and her pups while hiking in the woods. This led to Cinder’s selection for enrollment in the Mojo’s Hope program. Despite having an adorable litter of puppies, Cinder was dealing with severe fear and socialization issues, as explained by Shannon Basner, the owner of Mojo’s Hope. Luckily, the compassionate hiker brought Cinder to the Mat-Su Valley Shelter where she received abundant love and care for six months. After completing her stay at the shelter, Cinder was moved to Mojo’s Hope to complete her healing process.

Basner stated that Cinder thrived under our program’s care and developed a deep sense of trust in us. We immediately observed her compassionate and empathetic nature upon joining Mojo’s Hope. Cinder has become close friends with all of her fellow rescue animals, especially the cats. Additionally, she has emerged as an outstanding model for the new rescues who come into our program. Basner praised Cinder for creating a loving atmosphere, providing individualized attention, and offering a secure home to all of the rescues.

In July 2022, Mojo’s Hope welcomed a new member to their family, a charming cat named Bridger McPurr. The poor feline was found outside in the freezing cold, with his legs paralyzed and unable to move. Fortunately, Bridger’s rescuers acted promptly and took him to Anchorage Animal Care and Control, where he received immediate medical help. Although his legs were still not functioning correctly after some time, Bridger remained in high spirits. According to Basner, the cat bounced back quickly and is now doing much better.

From the moment Bridger arrived at Mojo’s Hope as a foster, he showed his new family how much love he had to give. Basner noticed how he purred non-stop and snuggled into her neck, revealing that he had been previously cared for and loved by someone. His loving demeanor led Basner to believe he would make an excellent companion for Cinder. Upon introducing them, it was evident that they were a perfect match as they quickly became inseparable and displayed sibling-like affection towards one another.

Basner mentioned that Cinder experiences immense joy when she has her feline companions around her. However, Bridger had a different approach as Cinder was cautious at first since he was fragile. Nonetheless, Cinder became more comfortable and showered Bridger with affection without any hesitation. Basner disclosed that Bridger was immediately drawn to Cinder when he first met her and snuggled with her right away. You can see their cute cuddling moments by viewing the attached video.
