“A Furry Tale: A Cat Finds a Loving Home After First Owner Couldn’t Care for Him”

Senior citizens who own pets often struggle to maintain their pet care routine, leading to inadequate care for their beloved cats or dogs. Unfortunately, cats owned by seniors may suffer a particularly challenging existence, and may even become aggressive when their owners’ ability to provide normal care declines. Symba, a six-year-old feline who lived with his senior owner until he required special care, serves as a poignant example of this struggle. When the elderly man moved to a retirement home due to his inability to care for himself, Symba was not permitted to accompany him and was instead surrendered to the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington.

Upon Symba’s arrival at the facility, the workers were taken aback by his 35-pound size! The feline was bigger than any feline they had previously encountered and required assistance. Despite his weight surpassing that of a lion cub’s, Symba had a positive demeanor.

Symba seemed happy, but his weight demanded urgent medical attention. Felines with excess weight are prone to heart complications, diabetes, osteoarthritis, and various other issues. The HRA squad immediately put Symba on a nutrition and exercise plan. They devised creative food puzzles to address the cat’s overeating habits. Every day, Symba walked on a cat wheel, and he was well on his way to a healthier life.

Symba, a curious young cat with a lot of energy left in him, was given up for adoption. However, his new family must make sure that he lives the healthiest life possible to avoid any negative consequences. While things are currently going well, there is still work to be done. The Human Rescue Alliance (HRA) plans to educate Symba’s adopters on the importance of sticking to his program and offering him the games, puzzles, and nutrition plan necessary for his well-being. HRA spokeswoman Matt Williams emphasized that failure to adhere to this plan could lead to weight-related issues for Symba.

Symba didn’t sit around waiting for his new family to arrive. Luckily, he was adopted by a couple who adore cats and he has adjusted well to his new home. His new owners, Kimba and Vito, are dedicated to making sure Symba is happy and healthy. In fact, Symba even participated in a photoshoot for the couple’s wedding!
