The festive season is often associated with the desire to receive presents that bring us joy. We tend to ditch setting resolutions for the upcoming year, as they often fail to last beyond the initial few weeks of January. Some of the most common yet unfulfilled resolutions are those that involve hitting the gym or quitting alcohol altogether.
There are people who get overly excited and momentarily motivated to have a pet, without considering if they can actually take care of it. However, owning an animal is not a trivial matter, despite what some may think. It requires a lot of commitment and effort to properly care for them. Unfortunately, some individuals abandon their pets once they realize the responsibilities involved. The Stray Rescue of St. Louis pet shelter, located in Saint Louis, Missouri, had to deal with this harsh truth when a truck driver reported finding three small puppies left in a crate on the side of the road.
As per the account of the bus driver, he spotted a group of puppies in a pitiable state, appearing weak and scared from a distance. Despite his wish to help, he had to continue with his route. Thankfully, animal welfare workers arrived quickly to aid the pups. Upon reaching the location, the rescuers took some time to verify the information given by the driver. Sadly, they found out that three tiny newborns were abandoned in an appalling condition by someone who probably did not want them anymore. The Stray Rescue of St. Louis representative stated that the young ones were traumatised and injured due to the morning’s abandonment. However, they assured that everything possible would be done to ensure the puppies received the best care possible for a happy and healthy life.
Due to the severity of the situation, the rescue team wasted no time in transferring the animals to a safe shelter. The animals were bottle-fed and given medical attention for their wounds, some of which were still open and infected. The experts identified various ailments that the puppies were suffering from. However, after regaining their weight and energy, the puppies have made a full recovery and are now happy and healthy again.
The animals were in a sorry state and showed signs of poor health as the veterinarians noticed open wounds, some of which were infected upon examination.
All the staff members at the shelter came to a consensus that the animals’ arrival was likely due to someone receiving them as Christmas presents but not being very fond of them. Fortunately, the adorable creatures are now patiently waiting for their forever homes where they will be loved and cherished as they rightly deserve.
Why not spread this tale to your loved ones? It’s worth pondering the idea of bringing living creatures into our lives. Our pets are not mere playthings.
