In Montreal, Canada, a kind-hearted individual came across a stray cat seeking refuge in an outdoor shelter built from a sizeable container beside the road. Unfortunately, upon her approach, the tabby scampered away, leaving behind a group of neonate kittens huddled together inside the makeshift home. Moved by the sight, the person contacted Stefany, a nearby animal rescuer, to inquire if she could save the helpless felines.
Without hesitation, Stefany rushed to the site and brought along some tools to aid in the rescue mission. Considering the mother cat’s fear of humans, she carefully positioned a humane trap near the shelter and waited patiently for four hours until she heard a clicking sound.
After successfully securing the mother cat, she gathered the five adorable kittens and placed them in a carrier, taking them all home.
The mother cat finally felt at ease after an entire day had passed, reassured that she wouldn’t go hungry for a while. She hurried over to her babies as soon as she heard their meows, eagerly taking care of them by nursing and grooming them.
It took three more weeks for the cat mother to start trusting humans. Stefany gave her a name ‘Lexy’ and provided her with enough time and privacy to feel at ease. Finally, when the tabby felt secure enough to lower her guard, her behavior transformed rapidly.
Stefany noticed a positive change in the cat’s behavior as she became more relaxed and open to affection. This was evident when she turned on her purr motor for the first time in Stefany’s presence, expressing her eagerness for pets and love. As time went by, the entire family flourished and their bond grew stronger.
After the kittens were no longer dependent on their mother’s milk, they were entrusted to Chatons Orphelins Montréal for necessary treatment and an opportunity to find a more comfortable existence. Fortunately, two of the kittens have been happily adopted as a pair, while Mama Lexy and her remaining three offspring are still looking for their forever homes.
Thanks to the aid of rescuers as well as kind volunteers, Lexy has undergone a remarkable transformation – from being a malnourished and fearful stray feline to becoming a contented, robust, and stunning tabby.
