As per our routine, we headed out to search for an ailing feline in the pet bazaar. After a thorough inspection, we stumbled upon one tucked away in a corner. The poor creature appeared feeble, emaciated, and uninterested in food. Upon closer inspection, it was gut-wrenching to discover that she was sightless and in a deplorable condition.
The poor creature was severely underweight and malnourished, spending her final moments next to a foul-smelling stream. We rushed her to the nearest clinic for urgent treatment. The veterinarian carefully cleaned her face and removed any excess dirt, but unfortunately, she had already lost one of her eyes.
The veterinarian recommended removing the eye, but due to her weakened state, the surgery was postponed and she was transferred to an infusion center. To keep an eye on her progress, she was isolated upon arrival at the shelter. Unfortunately, she hasn’t shown any appetite yet.
We continued to give her food through force-feeding until she regained her strength. We also administered regular drips to keep her condition stable. Due to her weakness, she was unable to stand or walk for extended periods and spent most of the day sleeping. However, there was a glimmer of hope when she began eating on her own. After several weeks of treatment, she finally gained enough strength to undergo eye surgery. We took her to the clinic where the vet performed an enucleation.
Following the successful operation, we brought her back to the shelter where she received specialized care and medication. During her final visit to the clinic, the veterinarian removed her stitches and applied the necessary medication. Through consistent care and medication, Dove’s condition improved gradually. Presently, Dove has fully recovered and is now fit for adoption!
