The latest episode of Sister Wives, namely season 18 episode 9, had its audience on the edge as the Brown offspring opened up about their complex bond with Kody Brown.
The recent split between Kody and Christine has caused a strain on his relationships with Janelle and Meri, resulting in fractures within the family. As a result of Kody’s rules, Janelle and Robyn’s daughters have a weak relationship. Kody’s children feel neglected, with a belief that he favors Robyn and her kids more than the rest of the family. In season 18 episode 9 of Sister Wives, “Battle Lines Are Drawn,” Christine introduced Janelle to her friends in Flagstaff. The Brown family has been struggling through Kody and Christine’s separation for a while now, and it has affected Kody’s marriages with Janelle and Meri. Despite being the least impacted by the split, Robyn is positioning herself as the only victim. In recent episodes of the series, Kody has been attempting to keep his relationship with Janelle afloat while struggling to connect with Meri. This has caused stress within the family, and Kody’s children have started noticing and discussing the problems openly. Janelle and Robyn’s daughters have addressed their difficult relationship due to Kody’s rules.
In the latest installment of Sister Wives, Savanah Brown and Aurora Brown conversed about their strained relationship. As Janelle Kody’s youngest daughter and Robyn Kody’s middle daughter, respectively, they attend the same school but do not interact much due to Kody’s rules that have impacted his relationship with Janelle’s children. Despite finding it tough not to speak to each other, both Savanah and Aurora agreed that avoiding communication was the best way to prevent further emotional distress. Meanwhile, Meri focused on relocating her business to Utah.
According to Meri, she is presently leading a comfortable life in Utah. She attributes this comfort to her great relationship with her business partner Jenn. In the past, she has had lovely relationships with some of the women in her life, including Christine, who was an essential part of her plural marriage experience. However, her relationship with Janelle during their time as a family was not as good, which was quite painful for her. Although sorting things out with her business has been challenging, Meri believes that she is on the right track in Utah.
When Janelle and her children visited Flagstaff, Christine was excited to share that Truely was spending the night at Kody and Robyn’s house. Although everyone was surprised, Christine revealed that Kody and Truely have a great relationship despite not spending much time together. However, in an interview, Kody criticized Christine for moving from Arizona to Utah, claiming that they would have a closer relationship if she lived closer. During a meal with the Brown siblings, Gwendlyn shared an interaction with Robyn and her children where they discussed their family relationship. Gwendlyn bluntly stated that Kody prefers Robyn’s children and asked her brothers if they felt the same way. They agreed, highlighting how Kody often chooses Robyn’s children over the rest of the family, despite being there for them in the past.
In the latest episode of Sister Wives, Robyn didn’t have much to report. However, she expressed feeling like a victim of circumstance when it came to her family. According to her, she and her kids felt excluded from the rest of the Brown Family during the winter holiday season, as if they had been voted off the island. She also mentioned feeling like the bad guy in the family, as most of the Brown children didn’t seem to want anything to do with her. Robyn mentioned being uncertain about how to handle the situation in the future. Kody also revealed that he no longer wants to talk to his children.
Robyn felt isolated due to Kody’s children not including her, while Kody himself revealed that he no longer has an interest in conversing with his own children. Although he expressed a willingness to modify his relationships with them, Kody disclosed that he doesn’t feel the need to have a strong bond with the children he shares with Janelle or Christine, especially since they don’t seem interested either. Kody added that he had attempted to make amends, but felt like his gesture was disregarded by his sons. Consequently, he believes that repairing the damage between himself and his sons may no longer be possible. Gwendlyn, Garrison, and Gabe also spoke candidly about their relationship with Kody.
Gwendlyn, Garrison, and Gabe had no qualms about being honest with their mothers about their respective relationships with Kody and Robyn. Garrison was particularly vocal in his disapproval of Kody and Robyn’s behavior, articulating his feelings in a straightforward manner. He pointed out that Robyn often played the victim card, which he found distressing, especially since she did so at the expense of Kody’s children. Both Garrison and Gwendlyn also expressed their belief that Kody didn’t really care about them as individuals, citing his lack of effort to connect with them lately. Although Christine and Janelle paid close attention to what their children were saying, they clearly weren’t thrilled about the idea of their kids accepting the absence of a paternal figure in their lives. On a different note, Christine extended an invitation to Janelle to meet up with some of her friends in Flagstaff.
At the conclusion of season 18 episode 9 of Sister Wives, Christine was looking for a break from her Flagstaff trip and decided to hang out with some friends in the area. She brought Janelle along to introduce her to the group. While indulging in a meal, the ladies conversed about their relationships. However, the primary topic of discussion was Christine’s one-year anniversary since separating from Kody. Janelle, feeling somewhat uneasy talking about such a personal matter in a group setting, shared her own experiences at the moment. The gathering provided a wonderful sense of community for both Christine and Janelle to share.
